Digitizing The Liberator

African-Americans in Antebellum Boston

We can now link these names with almost 500 articles on voluntary associations and civic engagement that have been digitized from the pages of the abolitionist newspaper The Liberator from the years 1831 and 1855. As you will see our research has expanded far beyond our original expectations. We will attempt to demonstrate our step-by-step approach including the challenges as a study in student historiography.
