This is a picture of the present North Beverly Fire Station. Before this building became the fire station, it was the location of the first cotton mill in America. This is the same place that George Washington visited. Although Beverly’s cotton mill was unsuccessful, it was the start of an industrial era.
Rosemary (Murphy) Turner says
My grandfather was the fire chief at the North Beverly station Leo J Murphy Sr. My brother and I are trying to figure out what years he was there. My father and mother Leo and Doris Murphy grew up in Beverly. Do you have any information you can share?
