At a legal town meeting of the inhabitants of Beverly in the county of Essex Commonwealth of Massachusetts, qualified by the Constitution to vote for Representatives held in at the town hall in said town on Monday the sixteenth day of October Anno Domini 1820 for the purpose of electing one or more delegates to meet delegates from other towns in this the Commonwealth in Convention of the state House in Boston on the third Wednesday of November next.


The Selectmen presided at said meeting as by the Act diverted-


Voted, that this town choose four persons to represent the town in said convention-

Votes for the following persons were then given in sorted and counted in open town meeting for the Hon. Nathan Dane Fifty-four votes
For the hon. Robert Rantoul Fifty-four votes
For the Rev. Nathaniel W. Williams Fifty five votes
For Deacon John Low--- -----Forty-two votes
For the Hon. Joshua Fisher---Fourteen - votes
For the Hon. Thomas Stephens--- Seven-votes
For Capt. Josiah Lovett--------- Seven votes
For Capt. Nathaniel Lawson --Six votes
For Capt. Abraham Hilham --Three votes
For Jonathon Smith Esquire--Seven votes
For Eleazer Wellin ------------Six votes
For the Rev. Abiel Abbot----one vote

And declaration made. That the Hon. Nathan Dane, Hon. Robert Rantoul Rev. Nathaniel W. Williams, and John Low were chosen to represent this town in said Convention
